How To Manage Being A Blogger And A Wife

Being a blogger can be a huge commitment in your life.  That is why it is so important to find that proper balance between blogging and the other commitments in your life.

Recently God had to teach me a valuable lesson in how to manage being a blogger and a wife.  For me I usually have to learn things the hard way, so let my lesson be to your benefit.

Considering that my blog is named God Life Happy Wife and I mostly focus on writing about marriage, you would think that I have this whole blogging and marriage thing under control right? Wrong!

I have never been a person that followed a schedule. I barely even like to use a to-do list. That worked for me in the past but once I started blogging I quickly realized that I needed to get organized,
or I would go crazy.

In the beginning I told myself and my hubby that I was going to stick to this strict schedule.  I had it all planned out in my mind of how I was going to balance blogging, being a stay-at-home mom, and being a wife.

After only a month I was so excited and completely committed to my blog.  It was almost all I was ever doing.  I was taking care of my family and the household duties of course, but any bit of down time and guess what I was doing?  Blogging, checking my social media, and commenting to others blogs.

Come on my fellow bloggers, you know what I mean, it's the life of a blogger.  Plus I was trying to build up my blog. That's what I kept telling myself and my hubby, especially when he would come home from work and find me peeking up from my laptop saying,
"Hi Honey!"

It took me a little while and a big wake up call from God to realize something was wrong with that picture.  So it was time for me to prioritize my commitments.

Here is what I came up with:

-I do love my blog and I am completely committed to it, but I love
my family more. In order to honor my family with my blog I have
to always put their needs first.

-If I want to grow my blog and treat it as my business, I have to be
professional by separating my blogging time from my family time.
I must draw the line and stick to it. It will benefit both sides.

-I have to learn to take advantage of all the resources out there that
make blogging easier and quicker. These days there's an app for
everything and using them would only make my life much easier.
For example I can preschedule posts and use websites like
Hootsuite.com to manage my social media.

Now this is my new plan and so far so good.  By the way I decided to not blog after my hubby comes home from work anymore.
We have much more quality time together and we are both happier about that.

Be Blessed!

  1. I love this post. Sometimes I look at other mommy bloggers and wonder how they keep it all together bc they make it look so easy. Its good to see Im not alone in learning to balance everything. I'm at home with a busy 9 month old, and sometimes it seems like getting everything done while keeping my sanity is an uphill battle. I too am learning the tricks of the trade to help free up some of my time, and its def. Made a world of difference! Thank you for posting this love!

  2. Love this, so authentic and genuine! Just started blogging and I'm definitely in that "obsessed with my blog" stage. Just the other day, my hubby was like, can you try to get your work done during the day so we can spend time in the evenings? So I'm working on better time blocking in order to get my social media, blog commenting, etc done during a certain time. But it's hard. Every time I get a new comment or some one +1's it on google+, I get a notification and of course I have to look! Constant struggle lol
