Welcome my name is Sherri. I am a follower of Jesus. I have been blessed to be the wife to my best friend Markiel. I am a mother to my tween son Amari and my preschool daughter Sanai. By God's grace I have found true joy in serving my family in our home. Even amongst all the everyday craziness I know this where God has called me to be. I learn something new everyday. I also recently became a part time bible teacher at my daughter's preschool. So I have the best of both worlds.

31 Days of Sharing God's Love Day 15 Family Time

Hi, thanks for stopping by.  I know you must be new here, because I am new. Please check out
My Story to get to know me better or subscribe here. Welcome!

The one thing I love to do is getting together with my family.  These days as my kids are getting older and becoming more involved in other activities, having quality "family time" is getting harder and harder.  There are so many distractions out there.  I have to work harder to make "family time" a priority.

This is definitely something that God has put on my heart, for my family.  The time God gives us together as a family is so precious.  It is an opportunity to have fun, grow closer, and create memories.  Most importantly it is a time to share God's Love.

Here are some activities you can do together as a family:

1.Family Story Time-This is a great way to get creative while spending time together.  Children can use their imaginations to add small details to the story.  Write out your story makes it fun, You can even have the children draw pictures to illustrate the story. Think about adding in details such as bible characters.

2.Scavenger Hunts-Kids always love to go on a hunt, so this should be easy.  Base your hunt on a bible story that your kids are familiar with.  Set up clues that included bible scriptures.  At the end of the hunt the kids can find a treasure that you filled up with all types of goodies.

3.Make a family documentary-Create an opportunity to share your life and family traditions with another family.  Try to contact your church and find out the information for a missions family.  Then capture on video a day-in-the life of your family.  You can even include pictures in your package to send.

4.Game night-What can be better than playing games with your kids?  Playing bible games.  You can go online here and get all the information and printables for games such as bible trivia, bible match, bible word find, and bible charades.  The key to having fun with this is to keep it light and fun, avoid any serious competitiveness.

Remember the goal is to have quality "family time." So put away all electronic devices so instead of your family looking like this

You can look like this.

Hi, thanks for stopping by.  I know you must be new here, because I am new. Please check out
My Story to get to know me better or subscribe here. Welcome!

God created marriage to be based on His Love.  Without God's Love we cannot experience marriage the way God intended.  Remember to always put God first in your marriage.  Both husbands and wives main goal should be to glorify God in your marriage. Sharing God's Love with each other allows you to grow in your love for one another.  Make it a priority each day to spend time with God as a couple.

How do you and your man share God's Love with each other?

Do you and your spouse take time each day to read a devotional or pray together?

31 Days of Sharing God's Love Day 13 Day of Service

Hi, thanks for stopping by.  I know you must be new here, because I am new. Please check out
My Story to get to know me better or subscribe here. Welcome!

This is an  opportunity to serve God through serving others Jesus proclaimed.
"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine you did for me."  Matthew 25:40

Today my family was able to be part of "service for service" at our church.  This was a day that as a church we gave up going to service in order to serve the community.  It was an awesome experience to be part of a group of over 1,000 volunteers.  Some of the services provided were going to nursing homes, gardening, yard work in local homes in need, street evangelism to the children, and washing cars. It was truly a self sacrificing experience. Having the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ is how we can show others about His Love.

It was great day but I am pooped! Honestly it felt good to work hard for someone else. Here are a few pics from the day. These are pics of me and my kiddos. My son Amari working(his hard work made mommy proud), alongside another family from our church.

31 Days of Sharing God's Love Day 12 A Servant's Heart

Hi, thanks for stopping by.  I know you must be new here, because I am new. Please check out
My Story to get to know me better or subscribe here. Welcome!

I'm always looking for opportunities for my family to serve.  So last month, when my church presented to the congregation that we were having a day of service, I was completely motivated for the opportunity.  I couldn't wait for the chance to take the focus of myself and my family's needs in order to give to a family who may have greater needs.

As moms we always desire for our kids to be kind, and giving to others.  We even teach them to develop the characteristics of Jesus.  I have learned that the best way to do this is to live it out in our own lives.  That way it is not only talk, and we are truly living a life of service.  Not only is this pleasing to God, but it allows our children to experience a lifestyle, that they eventually become accustom to.

Now I know living a lifestyle of constant service is not always easy.  We often see missions families and hear their stories.  We admire their dedication to serving others, but God does not call every family to the mission field.  This is something that God has taught me.  Since the time I accepted the Lord I have always had the desire to go on a missions trip.  I have even imagined what it would be like to serve in the missions field as a family.  I know that right now that is not a possibility for my life, but it is always a desire in my heart. Then one day God helped me to understand it all a little better.  He showed me that my mission field is here.  I interact with many different people everyday. I don't even know know if they all know about the Love of Jesus.  I realized that I had all the opportunity in the world to serve others right here where I am at.  In my home(my first mission field), at my kid's schools, at the supermarket, throughout my community.  I know now that if it is God's Will for me, there will be an opportunity to travel and serve in another country.

In so many ways we can serve our community and reach their hearts for Christ.  It is all in the way that we do it.  It doesn't have to be in a big way.  Even though many times there are big needs.  Remember God is in control.  All we need to do is serve with the heart of Christ.  It is hard for others not to see Christ's Love shine through us as we serve.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.  1 Peter 4:10

Tomorrow is the big day with my church.  I'm excited for all that God has planned.  Check back tomorrow when I will share about our day of service.

Here are some pics of my kiddos a few weeks ago, when we went out to hang door hangers about the day of service, in our neighborhood.

31 Days of Sharing God's Love Day 11 Our Words

Hi, thanks for stopping by.  I know you must be new here, because I am new. Please check out
My Story to get to know me better or subscribe here. Welcome!

Although I know I serve an awesome God, I am still always in amazement when He works in my life.  I try to live a life of expectancy by always anticipating the miracles of God's hands working through my life.  Undoubtedly God will do something or reveal something that will have me completely overwhelmed, and I LOVE IT!  I think about how He sets up situations in my life, and then ties it all together allowing me to learn a lesson about His Love.  Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face.

Just in the last two days God has really been speaking into my heart about the power of our words. He has shown me how words can effect others as well as how we think about ourselves. Our words can give life or cause death.  When we base our thoughts on Jesus and His Word it allows us to speak words of life. Into our own lives as well as the lives of others. The bible is filled with scriptures on the importance of our words. It is definitely an area that God feels we need to constantly we reminded of.

The tongue has the power of life or death, and those who love it will eat of its
fruit. Proverbs 18:21

Yesterday at church I was able to be a part of one of the girls ministries classes.  The teacher was teaching on self esteem and God esteem.  She shared about how negative words that others say can stick in our brains.  Eventually after too many times of this happening our brains are filled with the negativity, which can block out the voice of God in our lives.  We also can begin to believe those negative things about ourselves.  At the end of the class the teacher presented a great visual of two jello brains.  One brain was filled with all the negativity that kept sticking to it.  The other brain was clear and free of the negativity.  The negativity was replaced by God's Word.

The teacher taught the girls that as Christians we have to be different, and share the Love of God with others.  We can do this by speaking encouraging words to each other.

Then today in my weekly women's bible study God confirmed this message to me again.  In bible study every other week we have a video teaching.  Todays teaching was on hearing the voice of God.  It talked about how we must know and believe His truths, and how to break down the strongholds in our lives.  I learned that strongholds are constant thoughts in our minds that are contrary to the Word of God.  The only way we can break down these strongholds is by speaking the Word of God.  We must replace those negative thoughts with God's truth. Many times it's important to speak life into ourselves.

At the end of our video teaching our group got together to have a discussion.  One lady in my group is the mother of another lady in the group.  She recently joined the group after moving in with her daughter.  She began to share with the group about her stronghold of loneliness and fear of being alone.  She knew these feelings were not of God because she had recently moved in with her daughter's family.  She realized that she needed to replace these thoughts with God's Word on a daily bases.

After our discussion I immediately felt God putting on my heart that I needed to go share His Love with her.  God reminded me of the lesson that He had just revealed to me.  I felt led to approach this lady and speak life to her.  While we were cleaning up I approached her.  I shared with her that, "I appreciated her sharing what was on her heart with the group."  I also told her that, "I was glad that she had become part of our group, and that often times when she shares I am touched by her words." We continued to talk a little more, and then she thanked me for sharing what I did with her.  We ended our conversation with a hug.  Afterwards I thanked God for using me to be able to share His Love with this lady.  I also was truly thankful for the lesson He had taught me through it all.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Ephesians 4:29

Have you ever recognized a stronghold that God had revealed in your life?

What are some ways that God allows you to speak life into others lives?

31 Days of Sharing God's Love Day 10 Worship music

Hi, thanks for stopping by.  I know you must be new here, because I am new. Please check out
My Story to get to know me better or subscribe here. Welcome!

The one thing I LOVE to do is worship God through music.  I know sign language and have been completely blessed to have the opportunity, to sign worship at my church.  When I'm able to sign and sing, and I block out everything else around me, that is when I truly enter into worship.  I know that music is one of the many tools that God uses to allow us to worship Him, but honestly we don't even need music to worship Him. The worship comes from our hearts.

Many worship songs and their lyrics allow us to relate to certain feelings towards God or about ourselves.  That is why they can bring us to a place of worship.  This is also why music is a great way to share the Love of God with others.  One simple song can completely describe exactly what is in our hearts, or what we may want to say.  A song can give us the words, when we may not know what to say.  This is especially useful when we are sharing God's Love with those people in our lives that don't know Jesus.

Worship songs are often times inspired by the Word of God, so the lyrics are filled with His
truths. Nothing is more pleasing to God then when we are singing out His Word.

Like me, I'm sure you have many songs that are considered your favorites.  There are so many beautiful songs out there about Jesus and His Love for us.  Try to take an opportunity to share them with someone who may need to hear the truth of God.  In my car I only play Christian music.  Some time last year, after God had laid it on my heart, I decided that songs that uplift God is all I wanted to hear.  So I declared to my son Amari, from that day forward I would keep my radio on the Christian station.  Thank God that is where it has stayed since then.  Even when someone who may not be a believer comes into my car, the radio station doesn't change.  I am actually happy because I know that person is being ministered to.

This song is beautiful and the chorus is so simple.  The song touches my heart and soul every time I hear it.  This should be the cry of every believer's heart.  I pray it takes you to a place of true worship, and then go share it with someone else.

31 Days of Sharing God's Love Day 9 God's Love for Teachers

Hi, thanks for stopping by.  I know you must be new here, because I am new. Please check out
My Story to get to know me better or subscribe here. Welcome!

Lately I have been really thinking about the people in my life, that I need to share the Love of God with.  I'm always praying that God gives me opportunities to share about Him with those around me.  The problem is I don't always recognize when God is presenting me with those opportunities.

Recently I really felt that God wanted me to share about Him and pray for my children's teachers.  God not only put this on my heart, but just like the faithful God that He is, He set up a way for this to happen.  One of the ladies from my weekly bible study decided she wanted to start a Moms in Prayer group. She shared with us how God had put this on her heart a few years ago, but out of fear she hesitated and felt convicted about it. Now she decided to push away her fears and obey the calling that God had put on her heart and that's where it all began. Isn't it so perfect how God set it all up that her timing and my timing to follow His leading fell right in line together. God makes no mistakes, and nothing is by coincidence. We meet once a week for a focused time of prayer for our kids, their schools, and the teachers.  I was SO excited to be part of this group, because I know the importance of praying for the teachers each week.  These are the people that spend a majority of the day teaching our children, and many times these teachers may not have a relationship with the Lord.  That's what we are praying for when we get together each week.

Sharing the Love of God with my daughter Sanai's teachers is a little bit easier, because she goes to a Christian pre-school.  Also I am familiar with most of her teachers from when my oldest son Amari attended the school.  I often times talk about God in my life or about praying with her teacher during the morning drop-off time. Which by the way, I love getting the
opportunity to do.

The challenge for me is how I do the same thing with Amari's teachers.  Amari is in middle school now and he goes to a public school.  I don't even have as much interaction with his teachers as I do Sanai's teachers, so that definitely makes it a little harder.  Also I do have to admit in the past I did feel slightly intimidated about sharing my faith or beliefs with Amari's teachers.  Lately God has been revealing things to me in small ways and giving me the opportunity to be bold and share what I believe with the teachers.  Now I'm not talking about coming across as this crazy Christian mom that is preaching at the teachers...well unless I felt God was calling me for that.  So far it seems to be in more subtle ways. I realized that I may be the only Christian that some of these teachers have ever met. So who am I to feel hesitant to share His name. I recognize the responsibility I have to represent the Lord that I serve.

Here are some examples of how I have been stepping out in faith when it comes to this area. I wrote a note to one of Amari's teachers, talking about him staying after school to receive extra help, in order to get caught up on some work.  In the note I added that I was praying for Amari to have a successful year.  In the past I would have replaced the word "praying" with "hoping." I also plan to email another teacher that has been a big support to Amari this year, and let her know that we prayed for her in my Moms in Prayer group. I did get a chance to meet this teacher at back to school night, and she was very friendly.  She even shared with me a little bit about her family.  After that night I recognized the opportunity that God was presenting to me.  Now I just need to do my part.

In whom we have boldness and access with confidence with our faith in Him.
Ephesians 3:12

Lets pray that we continue to be obedient to those opportunities that God gives us to share. I'm sure I'm not alone when it comes to having those feelings of intimidation.

How do you feel when it comes to sharing your faith with your children's teachers?

What are some ways that you have shown you boldness for sharing about the Lord?
