About Me

My photo
Welcome my name is Sherri. I am a follower of Jesus. I have been blessed to be the wife to my best friend Markiel. I am a mother to my tween son Amari and my preschool daughter Sanai. By God's grace I have found true joy in serving my family in our home. Even amongst all the everyday craziness I know this where God has called me to be. I learn something new everyday. I also recently became a part time bible teacher at my daughter's preschool. So I have the best of both worlds.

What Wives Wear Link Up:Week 13

Welcome to the
What Wives Wear Link Up!
Week 13

Jamaica:No Problem

Shirt: Gift from hubby, Skirt:Thrifted, Shoes:Nine West Outlet, Earrings:Thrifted
I knew I eventually I wanted to share an outfit
featuring one of my favorite tees.

This is a t-shirt that my hubby got me as
a gift when he went on a trip to Jamaica.

He also got me a cute necklace and earring set
with the Jamaican colors, but wearing it
all together is a bit of an overkill.

I usually wear this shirt with a pair of cutoff shorts,
or even sometimes with my camo skirt, but I felt
this time I wanted to dress it up just a little.

So I matched it up with this thrifted green skirt,
and my gold heels.

Jamaica will always have a special place
in my heart, because this is where me and
my hubby went on our honeymoon.

I can't wait until the day we go back!

Lura kept it simple with a striped tee.
Her monogrammed necklace was the perfect accessory.

Nora was the second pick and she looked fabulous.
Nora is sharing her gold jacket with black harem pants.
She is also wearing a black top.
Her gold jewelry definitely compliments the outfit.

What Wives Wear LinkUp: Week 12

Welcome to the
What Wives Wear Link Up!
Week 12

Restyled Crop Top & High Waisted Skirt

Top:Walmart, Skirt:Thrifted(Banana Republic),
Shoes:Gifted(Nine West), Sunnies:Target,
Earrings:Gifted, Bracelet:Handmade by my daughter

This week I'm wearing another one of my restyled pieces.

For my July 4th look I shared one of my restyled t-shirts.

It ended up having cut off sleeves and
a fringed bottom, after I became bored with its look.
If you missed it check it out here.

This top that I'm wearing originally was a dress.

I liked the colors, the print of the dress, and even the detail
of the wood rings on the straps, which made it unique.

Of course once again I became bored with the dress.
The fit wasn't the most flattering, so I cut it into a crop top.

Now in the past I would be the first one to say,
"I don't do crop tops!"

I thought they were cute on others, and I've seen a
few that I liked, but I just wasn't
trying to show off my belly liked that.

Then I discovered the combination of a crop top,
and a high waisted skirt.

Perfect solution and nothing is showing!

These wedges were actually hand-me-downs,
from my sister-in-law.

They are so comfortable, and easy to walk in.

To complete my look I added a pair of shell earrings.

The orange bead is my favorite part.

To finish up the look I put on my favorite
bright orange lipstick.

In my book a bold lip is considered another fashion accessory.

What Wives Wear Link Up:Week 11

Welcome to the
What Wives Wear Link Up!
Week 11

Twinsies:Red, Black & White

Before I had children I used to think I never wanted a girl,
because I just couldn't deal with all the attitude.

I had my son and I thought this is perfect.
God knew just what I needed.

Then I had my daughter and it opened up a whole new world.

I love having a daughter, because she is so
sweet and affectionate.

Don't get me wrong my son is very loving too, but
he doesn't let me dress him up like a little doll.

It's something about having a daughter that is so fun!

Maybe it's because she is so girly.

It also doesn't hurt that she loves fashion,
pink, and anything sparkly.
A girl after my own heart.

The one thing that I always subconsciously do
is dress us up in similar outfits.

It just seems to happen, I guess because
I have a look in mind, and then I end up picking
matching outfits for us both.

This does happen often, but I have to be honest
last Sunday for church I planned this whole look.

I had fun that day. What do you think?

Me-Dress: Thrifted, Belt: Thrifted,
Shoes:Fiona, Earrings: Target

Her-Dress:Old Navy, Shoes:Payless

This is where she began posing.
She is a ham when it comes to taking pictures.
She is always ready to say, "Cheese!"

She was telling me how to pose.

As you can see mommy isn't as natural
when it comes to posing for the camera.

I have like two poses and that's it...she has many more.

I don't know what she was doing with the hands up?
She's very creative.

This is how the photo shoot ended.
I told her just to give a smile.

By the way these are the shoes that I
originally got her to wear when she was
the flower girl for a family wedding.

I thought they were cute patent leather
ballet flats they would be perfect and easy to walk in.
Plus her dress was to the ground so,
 you couldn't see them anyway.

Oh no not for daddy's little girl.
He thought they were not fancy enough, so
we ended up getting other shoes, and now
she wears these for church.

Typical events in my household!

Both Brittany and Lura are sharing flirty and fun
outfits that are great for the summer.

Brittany looks beautiful in a simple but stylish turquoise dress.
The color really pops and compliments her skin tone
as well as her pink lipstick.

Lura is sharing a coral top with
a colorful aztec skirt.

The tan wedges are a perfect match to the look.

10+ Wives Club:Susan

Welcome wives to the 10+ Wives Club!

This week I get the honor of introducing you to Susan.

Her story is very dear to my heart, because she is my older sister.
I have seen her marriage grow from the very beginning.

Since Susan is thirteen years older than me growing up
she was always like my second mother to me.

After I had a family of my own
our relationship became a lot closer.

I definitely look up to her as a wife and mother.

She takes these roles seriously and she is great at both of them.

Please read more of her story below.

1.How long have you been married? 21 years

2. How did you both meet? My coworker invited me to her New Year's Eve party. At the party I was helping her with the cooking. He was the friend of my coworker's husband. He was helping set up the music for the party, when we first saw each other. My coworker introduced us and we talked all night.

3. How many children/grandchildren do you have?We have four children. 2 boys and 2 girls. 20,18,18,10.

4. What are your two favorite qualities about your husband? He is very good with saving money and handling our finances. He also is a very good planner for our future. He is always thinking about our retirement.

5. What do you and your hubby like to do for fun?We like to go to church with our family.

6. What is some advice that you would give to a newly married couple? Remember the importance of communication. Having open communication is vital to your marriage.

7. What would you say is the key to your lasting marriage? We've learned to compromise in our marriage. When having a disagreement one of us always tries to let the issue go for the sake of our marriage.

8. What would be one thing you would want others to remember about your marriage? That we never gave up. Through the ups and downs we have been together for 21 years. God has definitely got us through it all.

This is a photo from our trip to my hubby's home country of Nigeria.

I feel blessed to share my sister's marriage story with you all.

Her marriage shows us that God can bring us through
it all, the good and bad, as long as we look to Him.

God loves marriage. He gives us the best example
of how to love and have a happy marriage.

Be Blessed!

What Wives Wear Link Up:Week 10

Welcome to the
What Wives Wear Link Up!
Week 10

Throwback Thursday
This week was a busy one for me.
So busy that I didn't even get a chance
to take any outfit photos.

I recently started working again,
part-time at my daughter's preschool.

It has been an adjustment trying to
get used to my new schedule.

Not to mention today I was busy
dealing with my flat tire.

Hence no photos from this week and...
Welcome to Throwback Thursday!

I'm sure this photo looks familiar.
This is my infamous profile photo for my blog,
and most of my social media pages.

This outfit is from my birthday last year.

Once I saw this purple ombre skirt I knew
it was perfect for my birthday outfit.

I was planning to get together with my family,
and have a bbq at my mother's house.

Here is a full look of the outfit.
Sorry the photo isn't clear, but I had to show you
my favorite part of the skirt.

The hi-low cut of the skirt made it just unique enough
for me to make it part of my birthday outfit.

Tank:Thrifted, Skirt:Target, Sandals:Shi by Journey
Necklace:Forever 21, Bracelet:Thrifted, Earrings:Thrifted
