About Me

My photo
Welcome my name is Sherri. I am a follower of Jesus. I have been blessed to be the wife to my best friend Markiel. I am a mother to my tween son Amari and my preschool daughter Sanai. By God's grace I have found true joy in serving my family in our home. Even amongst all the everyday craziness I know this where God has called me to be. I learn something new everyday. I also recently became a part time bible teacher at my daughter's preschool. So I have the best of both worlds.

Facebook Friday Linky Party

Ain't no party like a Facebook party

because a Facebook party don't stop!

It's party time folks.

What's better than a party?

Facebook Friday Linky Party of course.

Link up, gain followers, and be sure to share the love.

You can read the party rules below.

Welcome to The Ultimate Linky's Facebook Party!

This month I get to be the co-host of this party every Friday along with Tammy from
The Ultimate Linky where this party runs every month.  Our goal is to grow this party so that there will be new people linking up every week so that you can continue to get new followers!

There are two linkies in this party!  You can do just one linky or you can do both linkies.  On the first linky, you will link up the URL of your Facebook page so that your page can be liked.  Please like other people's pages from your personal profile.  On the second linky, link up the URL of a facebook status that you would like to receive a like or a comment.

Please follow me and Tammy from The Ultimate Linky on Facebook (links below), add the button to your sidebar or party page, and then link up and follow the directions for who to like! Here is the button that you can add to your sidebar or party page.  We also appreciate any shares that you could give!  Thanks for your help in spreading the word!

You can also link up one Facebook status that you would like to have a comment or a like on. This is the same concept as above except you only have to do the two links above yours. I will make sure I comment/like the last link(s).  To find the the URL of a specific status, go to your page and click on the time under your name.  So in this picture, I would click on "24 minutes ago".  This will bring up that status in its own window.  Copy the URL in the browser and paste it in the URL blank.

30x30 Challenge:Week 1

I did it! I made it through the first week of the
30x30 Challenge

Actually the first week wasn't that hard at all.
I just put together outfits from the
clothing selections that I had already chosen.

If you missed my introduction post click here
to see all 30 of my outfit pieces, just to give
you an idea of what I'm working with.

Now I had a realization some time in the middle of
the week as I was looking through my 30 outfit pieces.
I only chose six shirts. What was I thinking?

Oh yes...I have lots of shoes and jean choices,
but when it comes to shirts, not even enough shirts
to get me past the first week.

I guess I'm going to need to get creative,
or you will be seeing a lot of the same shirts repeated.

That's okay it's a challenge I can make it work.
Can you tell this was my first time doing this?

So without further ado here are my looks for

Week 1:

Day 1: Vest, cross shirt, light blue jeans, black sequin sneakers

Day 2: Chambray shirt, dark blue skinny jeans, black belt,
pink & blue tie-dye scarf, black sequin sneakers

Day 3: Blue & navy striped maxi dress, black wedges

Day 4: Purple plaid shirt, Dark blue skinny jeans,
tan knee high boots

Day 5: Chambray shirt, tangerine jeans,
pink striped belt, floral slip-ons

Day 6: Green cardigan, grey tank(a little cheat, I added this one in),
black pencil skirt, black wedges

How do you like my week 1 looks? Let's see how I do this week.

How To Handle Conflict In Marriage

When God brings two people together in marriage, to live for better or for worse, He already knows before you even say your vows, inevitably you will experience conflict.

It's marriage come on folks we all go through it. Some couples maybe more than others, depending on how you learned to handle conflict

God promises us that He will be with us but not that it would be easy.  The good thing is He already gave us a perfect example of how we should behave.  It is continuously shown to us throughout God's word and we need to make it our priority to read it and learn. It is also our responsibility to God and our spouses to apply the word of God to our lives and follow through.

Here is the perfect example that God sets before us on how we should behave.

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. Psalm 103:8-10

Does this sound like how you normally treat your spouse?

God knows we are humans and make mistakes. Often times we get caught up in our own emotions, we speak or act in the heat of the moment, or allow so many other factors to influence or behavior.

God is the only one that truly knows our hearts. When we continue to keep our hearts focused on Him and His example, through Him we are able to live a life that reflects His example.

The important part is it's only through him that we can have victory in this area. We can come up with a plan on our own of how we are going to handle situations and be more in control of our words and actions. We might even have success in the beginning and feel like we have gotten pass this area, but it will only be a matter of time until we fall back into our old habits.

Now maybe I'm speaking from experience, but only God is perfect and has perfect love, so until we learn to look to His example and depend on His guidance, we will continue to fall short.

When your spouse mistreats you, or says something that sets you off, initially you will be angry that's only natural but here are some steps that can help you handle the situation.

1. Spend the next few minutes or hours depending on the seriousness of the situation, getting your emotions under control by talking to God. Pray, pray, and pray some more!

2. Talk to yourself about how foolish it is to let someones unkind ways ruin your whole day, even if it is your spouse. Then follow up with scripture and pray for your spouse, whether you feel like it or not. It really is the right thing to do.

3. Decide to believe the best in your spouse and try to get your mind off their offense and on to something more pleasant.

Take as long as you need to go through these steps, and repeat if needed. Often times it may take longer for God to settle your heart, but once this process becomes the new norm you have already allowed God to give you victory.

Also remember we can do things that hurt our spouses, and often without even intending to do so. We must remember to follow the golden rule, and treat our spouses in a way that we would like to be treated. It's not just for kids, it is in God's word.

Obeying and meditating on God's word is medicine to our souls. It brings us instruction and comfort in every situation.

Keep this in mind: slow to anger, and quick to forgive. We don't want to give any opportunities to the enemy.

Be Blessed!

What Wives Wear:Ashley & Meegan

What is better than having a friend,
talking about fashion, love, life,
and then blogging about it all?

I say that sounds like fun times!

That's exactly what is going on over at
with Ashley & Meegan.

When I originally found their blog
thought this is a perfect place
for woman just like me.

Believe it or not that is actually their motto:
Real life. Real fashion. Real women.

I love it!

They just so happen to come on over here and
share some of their awesome style with
What Wives Wear
and I couldn't be more grateful.

Here's a look at what they like to wear.

ASHLEY:
Chambray(F21), Elephant Tank(h&m), pants(lulu bella's), boots(ShoeMint), Necklace(Rue 21), Bracelet(One Little Momma)

MEEGAN:
Kimono (F21), Skinnies(Gap), V-Neck (Victoria's Secret),
Shoes (UrbanOG)

I love how each of them have their own unique style.

Ashley is giving us a more funky, rugged look with her
elephant tank and motorcycle boots.

Meegan has a more soft feminine look with her
floral kimono and strappy sandals.

Personally I would wear both styles,
depending on the day and my mood.

That's the one thing I love about fashion,
you can completely change your look any day,
just by mixing & matching a few basic pieces.

So what is your current style or your fashion mood?
Are you feeling funky & rugged or maybe soft & feminine.

I hope our ladies Ashley & Meegan
gave you some inspiration.

Be Blessed!

10+ Wives Club:Tiffany

Today I'm honored to introduce to you
another proud member of the
10+ Wives Club
She is a good friend of mine
as well as to my blog.

Tiffany aka MrsTee is a God girl, wife,
mother, friend, and a blogger.

Her blog Mrsteelovelifelaughter is the
place where she shares her journey of
how all these things come together.

Ever since I first met Tiffany and the more
I got to know her the one thing that always
impressed me was her love for her husband.

She even shared with us her love story
last February for the
Celebrate Love series.

Now I got a chance to ask her some questions
and find out more about her blessed marriage.

She always has such great advice so I knew
I had to get her to share some marriage tips.

1.How long have you been married?
10 years this August but weve been together for almost 14.

2. How did you both meet?
I met my Hubby at the train station platform I used to take to work everyday.  I kept seeing him and for the first time EVER I approached a guy.  LOL  I am so grateful I did!

3. How many children/grandchildren do you have?
We have 6 children total.  We both had children coming into our marriage: He had 2 and I had 1.  We have 3 children together. This makes for our beautiful Team of 4 boys an 2 girls :D

4. What are your two favorite qualities about your husband?
He is never at his end.  No matter what the situation, how hopeless the circumstances may seem to me he always answers Ill figure it out.  He reminds me of a duck on wateryou will never see him sweat but he is always working things out beneath the surface to be certain our family is secure in every way.

5. What do you and your hubby like to do for fun?
Were kinda boring.  We love watching a movie and cuddling on the couch.  If we go out it is usually to just ride around aimlessly or catch a movie and dinnerwe love to eat!

6. What is some advice that you would give to a newly married couple?
Never allow your anger to endure.  You never know where the next moment may lead.  Being in the military we spent many days a part and during some of those times we may have had disagreements but we made it a point to always agree to disagree and end with I Love You.

7. What would you say is the key to your lasting marriage?
Perseverance.  We have had our ups and downs and downs again but we always come back to the foundationour love.  We refuse to let that go and with Gods help, prayer and the ability to say sorry we make our way through those times.

8. What would be one thing you would want others to remember about your marriage?
That above all else we are each others Best Friends.  I tell my Hubby everything as he does me.  We share, support and communicate even the odd, weird or random things.  Not because we feel an obligation but because he is truly the person I see as my Best Friend in this world and he sees me as the same.

There's nothing better than being married to your best friend. That is definitely important when you have a lasting marriage like Tiffany's.

Tiffany knows she is blessed with a good man and she takes some time to share her heart in this vlog.
